Avocado started to be grown in South Spain in the end 60's and from then on it has experienced a big expansion going from the 50 hectares used for avocado production in 1969 to the 10.000 hectares used nowadays. The increase has been favoured by meteorological conditions of the region and by new plantations.
Malaga province, - specifically, the Axarquía region where our company is situated - hosts the 80% of Europe 's avocado production. With 5.500 hectares available for production the region registers an annual increase of 5%, positioning the country to the forefront of International trade together with Mexico, United States, South Africa, Chile and Israel.
Producers in the area have chosen Hass variety for being the noblest avocado's variety. It is worth highlighting its organoleptic qualities and its better preservation conditions.
